COVID-19 disease continues to threaten many lives worldwide. However, with the right knowledge and guidelines, one can control the spread of this virus. This Monday of May 11, 2020, Kuwait has recorded 598 new cases with seven deaths and 178 recoveries. It is good because it has significantly declined from the highest number of new cases recorded yesterday. The country has 9,286 COVID-19 cases, with 65 total deaths and 2,907 successful recoveries. There are 131 patients in the intensive care unit, 60 are critical, and 71 are stable.
Within those cases, there are 79 Kuwaitis, 159 Indians, 140 Egyptians, and 87 Bangladeshis. In the governorates, 256 are in Farwaniya, 130 in Hawally, 93 in Ahmadi, 74 in Capital, and 44 in Jahra. Despite the decline of the new cases, the number of cases is still high. It must be a lesson to the community to strictly follow the guidelines and restrictions to prevent the spread of this virus.
During this period of lockdown, delivery from grocery stores is allowed. Grocery stores that sell food in the residential areas are the only ones permitted to deliver. It operates from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and then continues from 8:00 pm to 1:30 am. Delivering the goods will only be done without the use of vehicles to avoid excessive purchases and provide sufficient supply for the population.
Grocery stores are also not open to the public. Therefore, workers are only allowed inside. However, all workers in these respective stores must also follow the precautionary and preventive guidelines such as wearing masks and gloves. Lastly, the municipality set a WhatsApp number, which is 65975744, in case of any inquiries and complaints in the guidelines.
In addition to that, cleanliness is essential in this crisis. Therefore, the municipality has set a specific time for cleaning works to be done. In terms of garbage collection in the community, the daily schedule is from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
In this video, it is visible that many people are still not following the prescribed guidelines, such as wearing masks and physical distancing. It may be good to set time for exercise. However, it can be done at home. Many people want to reconsider the walking period since it can potentially worsen the spread of the virus.
In the Philippines, there are 292 new COVID-19 cases for May 11, 2020, with seven new deaths and 75 recoveries. It brings to a total of 11,086 cases, with 726 confirmed deaths and 1,999 new recoveries. The new number of new cases start to rise again after the low number of new cases in recent days.
As of today, everyone expects President Duterte to announce his decision about the extension of enhancing community quarantine to the high-risk areas. The ECQ of Metro Manila is supposed to last until May 15. However, it can be extended depending on the medical data about the COVID-19 cases. The authorities have also provided more testing facilities for the country.
Furthermore, Vice President Leni Robredo and Senate President Vicente Sotto III have been pushing to the implementation of mass testing to identify other cases and isolate them immediately. In addition to that, the Senate committee on public services will also be done today as they look forward to resuming the public transport services.
Every step imposed by the government involves a series of sessions and background medical data. With this, they will be able to assess the proper action to our current situation.
Today marks the 49th day of the curfew and the 18th day of the Ramadan. Kuwait has a total of 9,286, while the Philippines has 11,086 cases. I can see that the number of cases in Kuwait starts to catch up with the Philippines. However, because of the 3-weeks lockdown implemented by the government, I have good faith that the virus will soon be controlled.
