Three Updates of SSS Kuwait That You Must Read

In this time of coronavirus pandemic, the process of our transactions significantly changed. The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) is not an exception to that. As the circumstances that we are currently experiencing continue to change, the establishments will continue to find innovative ways to cater to its customers and members.

Our constant adaptation to these changes is our weapon against any crisis that we will face in the future. For my kababayans, especially in Kuwait, here are the following reminders that we should take note.

First, the Philippine Social Security System in Kuwait warned the Filipino members in the country to be aware of the fake accounts and activities that are conducted under the name of the establishment. On May 14, 2020, the official Facebook page of the Social Security System in Kuwait announced that the conducted raffle activities are fake. These posts are considered “clickbait,” where they will deceive people for their raffle activities or cash bonuses. All of these are fake news.

Although the fake Facebook page was already reported, they urged the Filipino members to stay alert against false news or announcements of unofficial accounts. Moreover, we should also be aware of the online scammers and fixers that invite many individuals in processing their UMID Card or benefits quickly with a transaction fee.

In case you encounter any of these Facebook posts, you should immediately report it to the nearest office of the SSS in your area. You can also visit the Special Investigation Department 4/F SSS Main Office, East Avenue, or call the telephone number 8920-640 or 5312 to 5316 for the locals. In this way, the individuals or groups who are suspected to be a part of the incident will face legal charges.

Second, the Social Security System announces to the public the minimum contribution of the Land-Based Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Previously, the minimum amount of the Monthly Salary Credit (MSC) is 5,000 pesos. The establishment increased it to 8,000 pesos. However, the monthly payment of their OFW members is 960 pesos as it rose from the previous 550 pesos monthly payment. However, the higher monthly payment comes with an increased worth of its benefits.

Lastly, the Social Security System released an advisory to the valued SSS members and claimants in Kuwait. It entails to the Filipino community that despite the opening of the Philippine Embassy of Kuwait on June 1, 2020, the SSS office will remain closed at POLO Kuwait. It is because all the staff and personnel of the SSS office are residing within the areas imposed with total lockdown protocols. Their services will resume as soon as the Kuwait government decides to lift the implemented lockdown. For that, the office wants to thank the continued support of its members.
