Vigan is a Wonder City!
The city of Vigan in Ilocos Sur, Philippines makes it to the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World. Its well-preserved Calle Crisologo boasts of surviving Spanish colonial aura with stately homes, tiled roof mansions with capiz shell windows, cobblestone streets and horse-drawn carriages called “calesa”. Calle Crisologo is also closed to traffic.
Some of these huge houses have ground floor souvenir shops and the second floor is used as dwelling. Antique shops and pottery abound the place much as the aroma of freshly baked empanadas. Walking in the streets of Vigan remind you of the notes from Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
The other New 7 Wonder Cities of the World are Beirut, Lebanon / Doha, Qatar / Durban, South Africa / Havana, Cuba / Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia / La Paz, Bolivia.

I’ve never been to Vigan but I’ve tried their food from a restaurant at Eastwood city, their longganisa is small but full of flavor. The city looks so rich in culture.
I never been in Vigan but this place is one of my list to visit this year 🙂

I love how they preserved the old streets of Vigan. I wish they did the same to Laoag though.

Congrats to Vigan! I’ve always wanted to visit this place, it’s on top of my places to see list for 2015! 🙂
I was able to visit Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte a few years back and indeed, it’s one of the great places to visit for culture & heritage sites and breathtaking scenery. 🙂
I really enjoyed our trip to Vigan last year. It truly deserves to be included on the list. 🙂 A very beautiful place indeed ^^
