‘Discover how gratitude shaped Diary Ni Gracia’s 2020—from publishing COVID-19 OFW guidebooks to receiving heartfelt messages. A moving reminder of hope and connection in challenging times.

Gratitude at the Beginning of a New Chapter
As we close the book on 2020, it’s only fitting to begin this post with gratitude. This year, like no other, taught us to slow down, reflect, and find the silver linings even in the hardest moments. Let me start by wishing everyone reading this a safe and joyful holiday season.
One morning before Christmas, I received a heartfelt message from a stranger. Her words were filled with kindness, encouragement, and warmth. She shared her story of being an OFW, how she overcame the fear of moving abroad, and how rewarding it turned out to be. Despite being a stranger, she extended her care and support—proof that connection knows no boundaries.
That message reminded me how powerful human kindness can be. In a year full of uncertainty, that single act of encouragement gave me a renewed sense of purpose.
“As William Arthur Ward wrote, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joys, and change opportunities into blessings.”

Gratitude for Unexpected Connections in a Digital World
This year, I released two important works: the COVID-19 Kuwait OFW Guidebook First and Second Editions. These books were created not just to inform but to comfort and support kababayans facing difficulties during the pandemic. Since their release, I’ve been receiving private messages from fellow OFWs sharing their personal stories—some filled with tears, others with triumphs.
The digital space, often criticized for superficiality, became a bridge for real, meaningful human connections. Through blogs, social media, and emails, I witnessed how perfect strangers came together in the spirit of gratitude and community. The kindness I received from those who’ve read my work is truly unforgettable.
Gratitude for Readers Who’ve Been There Since Day One
To those who’ve followed me since the beginning of my blogging journey—thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve witnessed me grow, evolve, and find my voice as a writer, advocate, and OFW.
Every ‘like,’ comment, share, and message means the world to me. It fuels me to continue writing and pushing forward, even during moments of self-doubt. Your support is something I carry with me every time I sit down to write a new article. You are the reason this blog lives on.
Gratitude for the Power of Vulnerability and Storytelling
Writing about OFW life isn’t always easy. It’s deeply personal. But I believe that vulnerability is what connects us all. I often talk about uncomfortable topics—homesickness, loneliness, anxiety, and struggles abroad—not to gain sympathy but to offer gratitude for the lessons they bring.
We learn, we adapt, and we grow. Sharing these stories fosters understanding. It encourages others to speak out, to know they are not alone. The more authentic we are, the more we find ourselves surrounded by people who genuinely care.
As William Arthur Ward once said,
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joys, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
Gratitude for the Diarynigracia COVID-19 Guidebooks
One of the milestones I am most proud of this year is publishing the COVID-19 Kuwait OFW Guidebook. This project was born out of necessity and gratitude—for the brave OFWs, frontliners, and advocates who needed reliable, timely information when the world shut down.
These guidebooks served as a lifeline for many, offering directory listings, health tips, legal assistance contacts, and emotional guidance. They are more than just books—they are a symbol of resilience and bayanihan.
To everyone who downloaded, shared, or distributed the copies, thank you. Your support made it all worthwhile.
Gratitude for a Growing Community of Support
This blog has never been just about me. It’s always been about us—a shared space for learning, healing, and uplifting one another. I am beyond grateful for the strong network of readers, fellow writers, community leaders, and OFWs who support one another in both visible and invisible ways.
Every email I receive, every suggestion shared, every moment of solidarity reminds me that gratitude is at the heart of this platform. We grow together by listening, learning, and helping—no matter how near or far we are from each other.
Gratitude as the Year Ends—and a New One Begins
2020 has been challenging, no doubt. But as I look back, I am filled with so much gratitude. For the struggles that made me stronger. For the small wins that gave me hope. For the people who reminded me I wasn’t alone.
To you, my dear readers—thank you for being a part of this journey. Thank you for helping me grow as a writer and as a person. And thank you for allowing me to share a piece of my heart with you.
As we welcome a new year, may we carry with us the same spirit of gratitude, love, and purpose.
Wishing you a Blessed Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
With love and gratitude,
Gracia
