December 19th to 21st was my scheduled trip to Tacloban City, considered the highly urbanized place in the Visayas region and quite historical too as the Leyte Landing Memorial of Gen. Douglas McArthur, one of the most important persons in our history.
As an Overseas Filipino Worker and blogger here in Kuwait, I have met different people with whom transactions are made and work had been done. I had a vague idea how and to meet them personally. My unexpected homecoming to receive the two awards gave me the chance to go to Tacloban City.
Meeting my manilachannel family headed by Mr. Bryan Cinco was a dream come true for me. Although it was nearing Christmas, rush was flying in different directions, what with year-end reports waiting to be accomplished, still they were able to accommodate my visit.
The famous San Juanico Bridge, with its arch shaped design and multi-million dollar construction from 1969 to 1973, is one spot I surely wouldn’t miss. It indeed boasts of picturesque view as one travels its length. Then, there’s the significant Leyte Landing Memorial which I mentioned earlier.
However, I became star struck at the EAITP Christmas Party as Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez and his beauteous First Lady, former actress Ms. Cristina Gonzalez were the guests of honor. It seemed to me that Ms. Gonzalez defy age and “sobrang maganda po talaga siya.”
I had a brief yet grand stay during my first visit to Tacloban City and I thank my manilachannel family for the meaningful time spent altogether.
