I’m sure that most of you have already heard about PAG-IBIG, not the tagalog term for love but the Philippines’ government Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF). What exactly is Pag-Ibig, and why does it seem important?
Well, we can easily say that PAG-IBIG is a government corporation that helps working individual save funds for themselves and their family by offering different programs that give various opportunities and benefits, why I decided to apply for membership in PAG-IBIG because of the benefits they give and offer especially to me being an OFW in Kuwait. I always dreamt of building my own dream house and I know that it wouldn’t be easy, but with Pag-Ibig’s Overseas Program, it’ll become now a reality. This program gives us an opportunity to save for the future and a chance to avail of a housing loan.
Years ago, I knew some OFWs who received lower salaries, sadly they had a hard time buying a house or even qualifying for a housing loan. There are several available lending constitutions that offer housing loans but only with high interests. The good news is that with PAG-IBIG we won’t suffer anymore from high interests and we can receive great deals from them at the same time, kabayan and our dream can be made more possible.
“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.” – Psalm 24:1-10
There is nothing wrong with being practical and planning for the future, it is actually more crucial for us to become prepared and aware especially since our families are not with us. We should have wisdom and understanding for us to realize things that can help us and our loved ones as well.
So, I therefore recommend you become a member of PAG-IBIG to help yourself live a happier and more fruitful life. I am a member myself and will happily continue to contribute and add savings to my PAG-IBIG fund.
