Closure of Adailiya Cooperative Society

The Adailiya Co-Operative Society has closed down after a worker in the establishment have tested positive. The shutting down of the company is one of the preventive methods against the spread of the virus. With a hope to flatten the epidemic curve in the country of Kuwait, its authorities continue to do their duty in containing this disease.

Another issue arises in the midst of this pandemic. It is the increase in the number of rent-related lawsuits within this period of crisis brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a solution, MP Khalid Al-Shatti, the chairman of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee, proposed a bill on amending Rent Law No. 35/1798. It states that there will only be one judge assigned for this purpose.

Furthermore, the bill sets out to deduct the number of days covered by the decision of the respective authorities in suspension of both private and public sectors due to the crisis from their rental fee. He clarified that the payment of rent will only start once the authorities have announced a resumption of work to both sectors. It can be a great help to the community especially in this financial crisis.

Report from the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait

Another report has stated that almost 2,000 Filipino workers, who are working in a Korean company for a big project in Kuwait, have requested the Philippine Embassy for support. However, other COVID-19 patients are still staying inside the camp. On top of that, it is said that their work will resume in May 10. They continue to send request to the Embassy and POLO-OWWA in order for their camp to be visited by the Kuwait Ministry of Health for proper checking and mass testing.
