When do you hope?

When crisis looms, it is natural for us to hope for better things ahead.
When crisis looms, it is natural for us to hope for better things ahead.

Hope relates to positivism, a state of mind where expectation is for the best. When we are in crisis, new creative possibilities give us encouragement to set a goal and to exert time and effort in order to reach for that desired goal.

What does hope mean for me? When illness besets a loved one or someone very close to you and it seems medical science only prolongs but not enough to cure, you still find a weak light in the end towards recovery; that is hope. When life as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) becomes both tiring and trying, I light a candle and pray for better things to come; that is hope.

When most of your friends have someone special  by their side and you think “when is my special someone coming” and just near you is a friend who treats you like a delicate rose; that is hope. Hopeful people keep on telling themselves “I can do this! I can do this!” Stay in focus is one factor that advances hope for the best outcome of any situation.

There is a study about learned hopelessness in cases of battered women when they feel like there’s nothing they can do to change their situation, but on the other hand, we have observed such thing as ‘learned hopefulness’ that despite staying in the relationship, the hope lingers on that one day things will change. That comes from the inner strength of individuals which may also apply to any other situation.

  2. Fernando Lachica says:

Hope comes when determination prevails. I can relate what you’re going through as an OFW. I’ve been an OFW for almost 20 years and my determination to succeed sometimes faltered because of hopelessness. Have faith in HIM for HIS always there when you knock for everything you need.

Lovely post. Hope goes hand in hand with faith. When you’ve exhausted all possible means to get a good outcome, all you can do is have faith and hope. 🙂

Hope, aside from the cigarette brand, is the word which I am literally “hoping” to use even more. I mean at some point, even if I used to be cautious on every aspect of my life, I have to be optimistic that something good will happen at the end. And if case there’s a bad thing happened, it won’t really last that long.

Well, at least know where to hope though (balancing expectations).

  5. Janice says:

Sometimes it can be difficult to find hope in our lives when times are rough. But I’ve learned that it’s always just there. One just has to look for the good in every situation.

  6. Louise says:

Hope is one of the best weapons to live in this cruel world. That’s why we say, “Never loose hope.” because once you do, it’s like you’ve given up your life.
