“I hope that this… will challenge everyone, at all levels of society, to reject every form of corruption which diverts resources from the poor, and to make concerted efforts to ensure the inclusion of every man and woman and child in the life of the community.”
– Pope Francis’ speech during the meeting with officials and the diplomatic corps, Malacañang Palace, January 16, 2015
Diarynigracia: Corruption isn’t only large scale. A dishonest centavo is the same as a stolen one thousand peso bill. We are faced with daily struggles in life that sometimes, we are tempted to be dishonest just to gain more financially. We sometimes have the intention to “use” other people just to move ahead of somebody else.
Yes, we are weak human beings and subject to faults and misgivings. No one of us is perfect; yet, we can try to be good and to do good. Simple gestures of kindness, simple words of encouragement can fill buckets of empty hearts.
Whether we like it or not, we will always start and end with family. No family is perfect, yet, we can try our best to create a happy life for our families. The most important reminder will be, let us not compare our family life with that of others. If we will be able to do this, then, we can find happiness and peace of mind.
