Cancellation of 2020 Special Professional Licensure Examination Due to COVID-19
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe, the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially released the Resolution No. 1242 Series of 2020. It entails the cancellation of the 2020 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) for the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in countries of the Middle East, including Kuwait and Singapore, from July 31, 2020 to August 2, 2020.
The Professional Regulation Commission and other concerned government agencies annually conduct the Special Professional Board Licensure Examination, also referred to as Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) in the Middle East and other countries. The specific dates and places for SPLE from July 31, 2020 to August 2, 2020 were already set in the following countries.
- Al Ahmadi, Kuwait
- Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
- Doha, Qatar
- Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia
- Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
- Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
- Manama, Bahrain
- Singapore
Because the following countries showed a significant increase of COVID-19 cases, their respective governments imposed entry restrictions and quarantine requirements for all foreign travelers. The concerned labor attaches, and PPO Chairmen at Al Ahmadi, Abu-Dhabi, Jeddah, Al-Khobar, Manama, Jeddah, Riyadh, Qatar, and Singapore agreed to the cancellation of the 2020 SPLE and rescheduled it to a later date. The decision was taken to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of all OFWs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of plans that should supposedly happen within the year. All of us are undergoing a difficult period as we face COVID-19 disease. Through this cancellation, I hope everyone will continue to be safe in this pandemic.
