I recently turned a year older and I would like to claim – a better person than I was before. After all the years of being an OFW and expat here in Kuwait, I can honestly say that my life overseas has not always been easy. But I am thankful for every single thing because I know that God has His reason / reasons for every joy or sadness, trial or triumph in our life.
I have learned many lessons and have accepted many things in humility, all giving back the Glory to our Almighty Father. The intangible gifts of self-respect, the process of learning to trust again, understanding and accepting new friendships, among others renewed my Faith and confidence in myself.
After a few years, my first birthday party was simple but I would like to believe it was well-attended by good friends who do not simply see me as Gracia Amor, the OFW blogger, but they see me as the person behind the pseudonym.
Many have been around during my first months here in Kuwait and until now have never left my side – my perennial good friends. Good friends for me do not have to be together all the time; sometimes we cannot even send a text message to each other weekly – but we know that the trust and friendship is there between us.
After the party has quieted, my gifts have been opened, my turn has come — to give thanks for everything right in front of me, for other things thru honest work and perseverance will soon be at arm’s length and ready to be shared.
To all of my good friends who came to share the occasion with me, for those who had the intention to come but were not able to, Thank You for your friendship. God bless us all.
