PhilHealth to extend Health facility accreditation

PhilHealth to extend Health facility accreditation until January 31, 2022

Philippine Health insurance corporation has announced last Wednesday, December 29, 2021, the extension of accreditation of health facilities due to the increasing number of hospitals not renewing their accreditation.

The said groups of hospitals are having their move called “PhilHealth Holiday” to protest to PhilHealth for not paying millions of unpaid claims.

PhilHealth President Gierran stated in PhilHealth Advisory No. 2021-046 that the agency shall extend the validity of accreditation of hospitals until January 31, 2022, provided that the facilities shall comply and submit all applications on or before the stated extended date.

The advisory also stated that applications submitted after the deadline might cause a gap in accreditation. The agency also noted that almost seven private hospitals in Ilo-ilo and Far Eastern University- Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation have already cut their ties with them due to delayed payment of claims.

Although the plan was deferred last January 1, they are still planning to continue the movement in February 2022.
