Recognizing the incredible fortitude and tenacity of women who have fought for their rights
March is recognized as Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate and honor the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and in contemporary society. This month-long celebration is an opportunity to recognize the countless ways women have shaped our world and continue to do so every day.
The history of Women’s History Month dates back to the early 1900s when International Women’s Day was first observed. In 1981, Congress passed a resolution establishing Women’s History Week, and in 1987, it was expanded to the entire month of March.
During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the accomplishments of women in various fields, including science, politics, sports, art, and entertainment. It is also a time to acknowledge and raise awareness of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need to promote and protect women’s rights.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we must continue to work towards a world where women have equal opportunities, representation, and rights.
For all the women’s who are continuously fighting:
You are NOT too much of anything. You will never be excessive in any way. There is no such thing as an excessive amount of spirit. A surplus of brightness
But there are individuals in the world who will attempt to persuade you to shine less than you already do. to tone down your own energy to match that of others.
As compared to what you believe of yourself, the opinions of others are of little consequence. Your lovely soul was made to fly, so don’t hold it back from reaching its full potential. Fearing what other people may think of you should not keep you bound to the ground.
Let go of the shackles, the burdens of other people’s expectations, and the judgment that is founded in envy of how high you may soar.
If I could go through time and speak to the young women who are now in their middle years, I would tell them the same things that I am telling them now.
You do not need to change for anybody. You do not ever give somebody the power to persuade you to content yourself with a confined space since your lovely soul was created to soar.
It is not too late to do so. Discover the tiny girl hiding within you. She continues to remain there, concealing herself under years of fear, people-pleasing, and humiliation. There is never a time when it is too late to let that young girl shine. In fact, she has been holding her peace while waiting for you to grant her permission the whole time.
Reconnecting With Your Inner Power
If you ever feel lost, like you’ve drifted from your purpose or lost touch with your voice—pause. Breathe. And look inward.
There is a younger version of yourself still living inside you. That little girl full of curiosity, hope, and fire. She might be buried under layers of self-doubt, fear, or expectations—but she’s still there, waiting for you to give her permission to shine again.
It’s never too late to rediscover her.
It’s never too late to start dreaming again.
It’s never too late to become the woman you were always meant to be.
As we reflect on Women’s History Month, let us celebrate not just the past and present, but the future. Let us teach the next generation of girls that they are powerful, capable, and worthy of every opportunity this world has to offer. Let us show young boys that strength and leadership are not limited by gender, and that equity benefits everyone.
Whether you are fighting for your rights, finding your voice, leading in your field, or simply surviving—you matter. Your story matters. Your light matters.
Women’s History Month is a celebration of you—your strength, your story, your unstoppable spirit.
