Warm Reception in Kuwait
At the Town Hall event in Surra, the Filipino community gave a warm reception to Rep. Ron Salo. The Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait, His Excellency Jose ‘Pepe’ Cabrera, and Labor Attaché Atty. Manuel Dimduringaano also graced the meeting. The gathering provided an opportunity for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to express their concerns and for Salo to affirm the government’s support. During his visit to Kuwait, Ron Salo found one of the most moving moments to be when he went to the site of the recent tragic fire that resulted in the loss of three OFWs’ lives and left two others critically injured. On June 13, Salo met with Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and concurrent Minister of Defense and Interior, His Excellency Fahad Yousuf Saud Al-Sabah. During their discussion, His Excellency pledged to give $15,000 to each of the families of the deceased OFWs, demonstrating Kuwait’s commitment to supporting the Filipino community. Salo expressed his gratitude to His Excellency for this kind gesture, emphasizing the significance of global solidarity during crises. Rep. Salo recognized this act as clear evidence of Kuwait’s genuine concern for our kababayans. His sincere condolences to the victims’ families and his gratitude for the prompt response of the Philippine Embassy officials further reinforced the importance of this diplomatic relationship.Celebrating Philippine Independence Day
