Reminiscing the Past

Reminiscing the Past October is always a very special month for me. First, it is my birth month and second, my journey as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), a blogger whose chosen advocacy is service to fellow Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) became more meaningful.

Diary ni Gracia, my online journal at www.diarynigracia.com was the recipient of Best Blog on Migration from Commission of Filipinos Overseas’ 2nd Migration Advocacy Media (MAM) Awards 2012. This opportunity gave me the chance to a surprise homecoming in the Philippines – my family and friends could hardly believe when I sent them SMS saying I was in Manila already!

I first came to Kuwait some years ago and like any other Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), I had on and off battles with homesickness, different struggles and trials. Through all of these, my Faith in God sustained me, the community I was able to share with and my advocacy to be the arms, feet and voice of fellow OFWs who are less fortunate and helpless. I am not saying that I am strong. I am human and at fault too.

For this year’s MAM Awards 2014, I know in my heart that the deserving Filipino overseas, wherever he or she may be, whatever profession he or she holds, will once again be graced by his or her most deserving award and thereby upholding once more, the God fearing persona, determination, hard work, hospitality and skill synonymous to being Filipino!

Experiences, whether good or bad, could actually bring you something good. Perhaps all those hardships, trials and even challenges made you achieved that honor two years ago. Kudos!

Wow, belated congratulations on this award! I believe that OFWs are really modern-day heroes of our country, and I hope you will be able to get home safely after your stint.

Come back with everything you’ve learned, and help make the Philippines a better nation.

Congratulations on your award! Each OFW is really deserving to get an award but when you were awarded, it was your time to shine… to be recognized. I believe we all have our time to shine just like the stars in a dark sky 🙂

I’m super glad that people still know the meaning of “pakikipagkapwaan”. Congratulation on your award and hope that the said trait will always be among everyone of us.
