Pickled fruits and vegetables along with cured sausages and meats are considered “antipasto” or appetizers before the meal. But did you know that these can be beneficial too?
Olives, pickles, mushrooms, bell peppers, jalapenos, artichokes among others are beneficial to the health. A good serving of either food aids in digestion, promotes good intestinal bacteria commonly known as “probiotics”. Cardiovascular endurance becomes moderate and supports the immune system.
Pickled delicacies are good sources of B vitamins even B12 vitamin, omega 3 fatty acids, lactase and lactic acid and other natural anti-bacteria components.
I know that sometimes pickled vegetables and fruits are tangy in taste but remember, these delicacies help our health and well being.

At home we like to pickle radishes. They are a perfect companion to anything fried. 🙂
I really don’t like the taste but sometimes, I force myself to eat this. 😀 I try to get my son to actually eat this though.
I didn’t like pickles when I was a kid, but the taste kinda grew on me. Nice to know that they’re actually good for you!
P.S. Is kimchi a kind of pickle too? XD
