On 21 September, the SSS said that online transactions and checkless disbursements are now mandatorily implemented through its system. This is to provide their members, employers, pensioners, and beneficiaries a faster, safer, convenient, and economical facility to register and submit applications and receiving proceeds and cash benefits from the SSS. This online facility aims to facilitate the ease of doing business within their organization and to continue its efforts towards digitalization that is rampant amidst COVID-19 Pandemic. The enhancement and expansion of the SSS facilities will benefit the transacting public by giving them a convenient facility and preventing the spread of coronavirus

In order to proceed to process with online transactions, members, employers, and pensioners must have their own My.SSS account. Upon successful registration, they need to register their disbursement account through Disbursement Account Enrolment Module or Bank Enrolment Module in their My.SSS accounts.

With rampant financial digitalization, we need to understand the process of these online transactions to protect ourselves against potential fraud. Digitalization of transactions paved its way because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We need to adapt to these changes because change is constant. Hence, nothing lasts forever.

What Does This Mean for You?

From here on, all transactions involving benefits, contributions, and loan applications must be done through the official online platform. Users are encouraged to register for their My.SSS account, which is the gateway to digital services offered by the agency. Once registered, members must also enroll their disbursement accounts through the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM), also known as the Bank Enrollment Module. This step ensures that all benefit and loan proceeds are directly credited to the member’s bank or e-wallet account.

For many Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and local members alike, this transition means better accessibility, especially for those who live far from branch offices or are currently unable to leave their homes. Whether you’re in Kuwait, Qatar, or any part of the Philippines, services are now available in just a few taps.

What You Need to Prepare

SSS Benefits

To take full advantage of the enhanced services, here are a few reminders:

  1. Create your My.SSS account – You’ll need your SSS number and a valid email address.

  2. Enroll your disbursement account – This could be a bank account, e-wallet (like GCash or PayMaya), or even your UnionBank or DBP account.

  3. Keep your information updated – Make sure your contact details, beneficiaries, and employment status are current.

  4. Familiarize yourself with the portal – Take time to explore the services available in your online account. It includes loan applications, benefit claims, contribution history, and more.

  5. Keeping Up with Change

As we move further into the digital age, it’s important for all of us—especially senior citizens and those not as tech-savvy—to adjust to the new normal. If you have elderly relatives or friends who are pensioners, it’s helpful to guide them in setting up their online accounts. You can assist them in navigating the site or downloading the mobile app. A little help can go a long way, especially for those who rely on their monthly pensions for their needs.

Likewise, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on official announcements. The Social Security System regularly posts updates on their official Facebook page and website. Following these updates will keep you informed about new features, temporary maintenance schedules, and policy changes.
