Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) License Renewal: A Comprehensive Guide

Do you want to renew your Professional Regulations Commission license while working abroad as a Filipino employee?

Without visiting PRC offices in the Philippines, OFWs can renew their PRC license. There are two ways to go about this: either filling out an online renewal form or a renewal form that you can download here.

 

PRC ID: What is it?

A Professional Regulations Commission ID is a government-issued identity card only for professionals. It records the holder’s legal right to practice their profession.

This identification is given to the bearer following passing a licensing exam, such as a board exam.

A PRC license holder can lawfully practice their profession by renewing it. Renewing your ID indicates that your license is valid and hasn’t been canceled or suspended.

 

Online form versus printed renewal form

PRC holders abroad can select the alternative that best suits their needs, as they now have two options.

Depending on your situation, both strategies have pros and downsides.

The Professional Regulations Commission has launched online services for appointment, payment, and application for licensure exams, the registration system for passers, and the renewal of PRC licenses.

Let’s go over each method one by one.

 

Method A: Using the downloaded Form to Renew Your License

You can renew your ID while abroad by following a few simple procedures.

1. Download and print the “Application for Professional Identification Card” renewal form from the PRC’s Registration Division. Fill out the form completely and sign at the bottom.
2. Include a recent passport-size colored photo with a white background, as well as the name tag. As an added requirement, provide a duplicate of this passport photo.
3. Prepare the following requirements:
   • Photocopy of your most recent PRC license
   • Letter approving the representative to renew your license on your behalf
   • Valid ID of your authorized representative who will visit
   • Fees associated with license renewal
4. Visit your local Professional Regulations Commission office.
5. Submit the completed renewal form and the prerequisites specified in #3.
6. Pay the charges/fees.
7. Obtain a claim paper with the date your representative will return to the PRC office to pick up the PRC identification card.

 

Using Professional Regulations Commission Online Services to Renew Your License

When you visit the Professional Regulations Commission online website, you’ll notice that it offers various services, including application for the board test, registration of recent passes, and, in this case, renewal of your PRC license.

Signing up for an account allows you to save your personal information, which can be helpful for services such as license verification and renewal.

1. First-time users must create an account. Your basic details (name, date of birth, etc.) and verification information (email address and password) are required for first registration.

In summary, the terms state that by submitting your information, you agree that it may be used for statistical reports, research, and other similar reasons. It further says that email addresses would only be used to contact users about the status of their accounts or system changes.

2. Fill out the form accurately. Incorrect entries will almost certainly necessitate later changes and can delay transaction execution. Keep your account information, such as your email address (which serves as your username) and password, in mind for future visits to the website.

3. Enter your username and password to log in. Fill out other fields about your personal, contact, family, employment, and educational history after logging in.
4. Upload a photograph. Before you upload a digital photo, make sure it adheres to the PRC’s criteria.

• Photo size is 2×2 inches, color photo with white background.
• Before uploading, the photo must have been taken within the last six months.
• The applicant in the photo is dressed appropriately, with a collar.
• Unacceptable photos include those that do not resemble the applicant, those with eyeglasses, those with a backdrop color other than white, those with shadows, and those with the applicant’s ears covered.

If you are confident that the photo meets the above criteria, click Choose file (5) and locate your digital photo (ideally in JPG format), modify its position if required (6), and click “Upload Image” (7).

5. Under Select Transaction, choose renewal. Enter your PRC license number after selecting your profession from the drop-down box (3). To proceed, click “Proceed” (5).
6. Make an appointment and decide on payment options. To transact with PRC, choose your chosen location. Then, select your payment method (GCash, Credit/Debit card, PayMaya, or PRC’s cashier).

 

If you want to renew your license and pick up:

• Do you wish to use shipping services? NO
• Choose your preferred PRC Regional Office.
• Click the “Next” button and choose a payment method (Visa/Mastercard).
• Additional information, such as the expiration date and fees for your new license, are also provided.

If you are renewing your license and would like to use the shipping service (available only in Metro Manila):

• Do you wish to use shipping services? YES
• Click the “Next” button and choose a payment method (Visa/Mastercard).
• Fill out the form with your shipping information.

A summary will be presented once your payment has been validated. In the delivery service field, enter the reference number and click “Confirm Payment” (5).
