Women in the Corporate World Seminar

 

Women in the Corporate World: Beyond the Glass Ceiling. This was the life changing seminar held at Jumeirah Messilah Beach not so long ago, of which I definitely took the initiative to attend.

 

I believe in women empowerment and their dedication and ability to bring to high levels their talent and skill which they could share with others most especially those who feel hopeless and helpless. This inspirational seminar from which different keynote speakers have shared their insights and experiences on how to become a successful woman in the corporate world, both locally and internationally.

 

The International Keynote Speaker is Ms. Randi Zuckerberg, CEO of Zuckerberg Media and former Marketing Director at Facebook. She is the person responsible for the genuine Facebook Live which gives real time broadcasts of what’s going on during an event. It’s like watching an important occasion, live, on Facebook.

Listening to her gave me the chance to ponder on her points towards successful entrepreneurship.

First – We can all be employees and entrepreneurs at the same time. 

We can start with ourselves by defining what is our mission in life and at work? What do we stand for? There will always be something we can do beyond our day time job that will make us an entrepreneur. It is up to us to discover our inner strength. If we are working for somebody else’s company, it won’t hurt to think that being efficient in our job is synonymous to working hard as if we own the company we are working for. When we become entrepreneurs ourselves, we would definitely like our employees to work efficiently as well.

Second – Be creative. 

We must allow ourselves to express our ideas in the most significant way we could. Let the employers allow their work force to be creative and to overcome the fear of failure or stupidity. Allow some room for mistakes, just making sure that lessons are learned in the process.

A retired female teacher or career woman can enjoy her retirement benefits but at the same time, she can choose to venture into entrepreneurship with something she has passion about. If she bakes really good, she can start doing home made cookies.

Third – Mobility.

The innovative and driven women of today must know that in order to run a business efficiently and saves time. The use of gadgets, social media sites, video calls can get the work done and delivered service to clients.

Fourth – Be “on demand”.

Almost everything today is reliant on one click of the button; to order, to book a flight to your dream vacation, to reserve a slot at your favorite spa or to make a dine in reservation for two. It’s easier to establish client relationship with this truth.

Fifth – Communicate like a Media Company.

Whether you are talking to one person or to a group of people, make sure that you drive your point in the easiest way understandable. How you build your image and services to clients, how you want to be understood, how to educate, entertain and keep the interest of your audience, is your effort to be known and be remembered so they will keep on coming back to your business.

The most important thing to remember when we post anything on social media, we have to follow social media etiquette and we have to act responsibly so as not to offend  anyone in particular.

At this day and age, whereas technology makes things easier for millions of us all around the globe, at the end of the day, it will always be back to basics. The entrepreneur we would like to be, is a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an unmarried woman wanting to make a niche in this world. God bless.
