One definition of marathon is – footrace that requires endurance and is characterized by lengthy distance. I am not really much of a sports or physical fitness person although I try to watch what I eat every time and I also try to walk at seaside, if and when I have company.
And so, the recent invitation to the 5 kilometer Fun Run of Philippine International English School from Fahaheel to Kuwait Magic Mall in Abu Halifa was more than a welcome idea for me. It was a moment of realization for me too.
It was a marathon originally and that would be a huge preparation for someone like me so I did my own version – walkathon. Thankfully my friends were more than gracious to accompany me along the way.
Of course I reached the finish line (everyone does actually) and the end gave me more realization than I have expected. Aside from being able to walk 5 kilometers, I felt light physically, mentally, emotionally as if every drop of sweat is equivalent to negativism I kept for a while, dripping off me.
In life, we are given challenges to stretch our limits in order to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We all go through some marathons in our life. We have to keep the Faith, do our best to uplift our situation and stay positive that everything will turn out to be fine in the end.
