Glowing Ministry: Illuminating the Path of Faith

What is the Glowing Ministry?

Rev. Dr. Miller B. Tadeo established the Glowing Ministry in September 2022 and stands as the most recent addition to the vibrant tapestry of Paraiso United Methodist Church. Rooted in profound reverence and appreciation, its central mission is to extend a heartfelt tribute to the elderly members of the congregation, those aged 70 and above, who have demonstrated unwavering dedication and tireless service to the church community. The ministry derives its name, “Glowing,” from a profound symbolism – a reminder that age may bring wisdom and experience, yet these seasoned members continue to radiate light within the church, embodying the timeless values of Jesus Christ.

As a regular tradition, the Glowing Ministry convenes on the first Saturday of each month. The dynamic and inspirational leadership of Deaconess Marlyn G. Castro plays a pivotal role in orchestrating these gatherings. With a blend of enthusiasm and compassion, Deaconess Castro crafts various activities to keep the ministry members engaged and enthused. These activities encompass melodious singing, spirited dancing, engaging games, and captivating storytelling, all accompanied by the gratification of prizes and a feast of delectable food. Beyond the surface merriment, the ministry integrates moments of spiritual reflection, featuring short devotional sessions and thought-provoking biblical trivia, where participants are rewarded for their knowledge and insight. Importantly, Deaconess Marlyn is not alone in her support; the benevolent spirit of the church community shines brightly through the contributions of other devoted members, including Sister Myrna D. Madlambayan, the generous Serafin family, and the human couple Beth-Cenon Dela Cruz, to name a few among many others who have wholeheartedly embraced the ministry’s cause.

Despite its relatively recent inception on October 1, 2022, the Glowing Ministry has rapidly garnered a substantial and passionate following. Initially centered on celebrating the elderly members, Rev. Dr. Tadeo envisions a future where the ministry’s outreach extends to embrace those members who have comorbidities and, ultimately, broadens its embrace to encompass participants’ relatives and friends. This ambitious expansion aligns with Rev. Dr. Tadeo’s overarching objective: the unification of an even more extensive and more diverse assembly of disciples, all drawn to the spiritual teachings of Jesus Christ. Paraiso UMC, already home to various age-specific ministries covering the entire spectrum from children to young adults and middle-aged individuals, warmly welcomes the Glowing Ministry as a cherished addition to its spiritual offerings. Just as they do for other ministries, Rev. Dr. Tadeo and the entire congregation eagerly anticipate the continued growth and prosperity of the Glowing Ministry, with unwavering hope for its enduring radiance and service in the years ahead, further illuminating the path of faith for all who seek spiritual fulfillment and community within the church.
