What is the culture like at TSOK? How do you foster teamwork and promote personal growth?
TSOK organizers, officers, and members are all Filipino. We should always remember the saying, “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan” and “Ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa ang amoy sa malansang isda” by Jose Rizal. We need to look back at our roots, appreciate those who helped us become who we are today, and give back. Loving our Filipino culture (review) is essential. We should be observant even in a foreign land. While it’s fine to adapt to local customs (“When you are in Rome, do what the Romans do”), we shouldn’t be ignorant of our surroundings. Remember, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse.”
To promote teamwork, we need to be responsible, honest, available at all times, smart, kind, humble, and friendly. Above all, we must always put God first in everything we do.
What positive impact has TSOK had on the community and society?
The positive outcomes achieved by past and present TSOK officers are remarkable. Through thick and thin, rain or shine, TSOK stands strong and independent, capable of enduring whatever challenges come its way. Many TSOK board passers have found stable employment in the field of education and other areas, making them valuable assets to society and the community. The camaraderie, unity, and cooperation within TSOK have significantly contributed to these positive outcomes.
